Honda Formula 4-Stroke Powerboat race at Liverpool

By srrpenna - Posted on 19 August 2008

Honda Formula 4- Stroke powerboat racing is certainly not a sport for the faint hearted. Travelling at speeds of up to 70mph, these marine machines hardly come into contact with the water - most of the boat is usually airborne!

The largest off-shore powerboat series in the UK arrives in Liverpool in August for the penultimate round in a five-race season. Relying solely on the skill of the driver and the navigator, racers will roar up the Mersey from the new Arena to the entrance of the Canning Dock Gates.

The waterfront will be packed with huge race trucks and top of the range Honda CRV 4x4s used to pull the boats from the water. Rumour has it that the eight times Class One World Champion and F4SA series director Steve Curtis will be there to watch the latest talent in his series.
